Coconut, the Tree of Life
One of the abundant trees found in the Philippines are the coconut trees. Its trunk can be used as post for houses while the leaves can be used as roof. The coconut meat can be eaten and its water can be drunk and made into vinegar known as “suka tuba”. The coconut shell can be made into charcoal; its husk can be made into a coconut husk used for cleaning the floor. The midribs can also be made into brooms or “walis ting-ting”. No part of the tree can be wasted, that’s why it is called the Tree of Life…
